I bought my first mountain bike in June 1991 shortly after returning from Desert Storm. Like most kids of my generation, I had grown up riding the classic 1 speed Schwinn with banana seat and high handlebars. This was something totally different. My mountain bike was a RD Coyote, which was an 18 speed with no suspension of any kind. I got it new for like $300. It was heavy, but it had knobby tires and was great for riding on the old dirt tracks in the hills around Evanston, Wyoming. I didn't know it at the time, but that bike would be the catalyst that would change the direction of my life to one of sports and adventures in the outdoors. I do most of my riding in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah, but I have gotten out on some cool and beautiful rides elsewhere as well. I will be adding some stories of my favorite rides in Utah, Wyoming, California, Texas and Idaho as time allows.
